Sovann is alone on stage, dressed fancy and moving sassy. His words unveil the beauty he seeks as well as the ugliness he finds. His dance reveals a part of his history, his posture, and his convictions.

About the artist
Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep, aka Promo, is a choreographer, dancer, curator, and event organiser. He grew up immersed in Montreal’s breaking community. With the Sweet Technique group, he participates in many competitions and has chalked up over thirty victories. He is frequently invited to take part in competitions around the world, either as a participant or as a judge. He is also trained at École de danse contemporaine de Montréal and has danced for Animals of Distinction, RUBBERBAND, Wants & Needs, Castel_Blast, 14 lieux, Lilith & Cie et Susanna Hood.
His work is emotional and open, creating an intimate, welcoming mood. Always seeking to showcase street dance artists, he draws on their personalities and experiences for his raw materials. His work has been presented at the Festival TransAmériques, Agora de la danse, FURIES Festival, La Chapelle, and Citadel + Compagnie. In 2022, he won the Jacqueline Lemieux Prize for his outstanding contributions to dance in Canada. In 2024, he appeared in the popular TV dance competition Révolution.
