Dancer, performer, choreographer, artistic advisor and rehearsal director Sophie Corriveau has been invested in transforming dance practices for over thirty years. Her research studies the relationship between the performer’s work and the audience’s perception, looking to bridge the sensitive components at the heart of the artist’s poetic and social experience. Her numerous projects question the mutations of the dancer-creator role, working towards nonhierarchical practices. Sophie was awarded the Prix de la danse de Montréal in 2016 as a dancer. Since September 2019, she is Artistic and Executive Director of Danse-Cité.
Ellen Furey is an artist of white settler descent currently living on Tio’tia:ke/Montréal, working in experimental, contemporary dance forms. Since 2012, she’s been involved in collaborative and co-authored discursive processes mostly repurposing ideas/potential of dance virtuosity and performer-type showmanship as grounds for living, bodily, oblique rebellion, reflection, and debate. As a dancer and choreographer, Ellen Furey is currently in creation for two upcoming works in 2021 and 2022. She has been an artistic advisor at Danse-Cité since January 2020.
