EROS JOURNAL is an ode to Psyche’s consort who, with his arrows, brings about fateful encounters that lead to the unknown and sometimes the forbidden. Six dancers—three women and three men—embody physical and creative drives, and play sexual games and sexualized roles as they inevitably succumb to the charms of the young adolescent Eros, who awakens our deepest desires.
By turning the work into a series of vignettes that play with romantic and erotic stereotypes and taboos, David Pressault uses this Traces-Chorégraphes piece to reveal a colourful portrait of love. The work is unpredictable, vulnerable and sensual, by turns narcissistic and suggestive. Neither the characters nor dance, as an art form, can escape the powers of Eros. The audience is invited to reflect—without inhibition—on the nature of love.
