Within each of us lie experiences that dictate the present moment. Our inner lives are marked by multiple sensations, encounters, successes and failures. How do our stories intersect and lead us far afield to unexpected spaces? With elsewhere, widely acclaimed Toronto choreographer Heidi Strauss looks at human adaptability and resilience in the face of everyday situations and obstacles. With grace and passion, her dance explores the human being’s ability to transform and to be transformed. Each performer thus challenges the other’s limitations while appealing to various levels of vulnerability and intimacy. The ensuing interaction serves to alter personal reflexes and everyday gestures. Video and music meet to further modify movement, causing it to resonate and create a kaleidoscope of perceptions and unexpected states.
